چکیده

Research on using phase change material (PCM) suspension to improve the heat transfer and energy storage capabilities of thermal systems is booming; however, there are limited studies application PCM in transient natural convection. In this paper, implicit finite difference method was used numerically investigate steady-state convection a square enclosure containing suspension. The following parameters were included simulation: aspect ratio physical model = 1, buoyancies caused by temperature concentration gradients Raleigh number (RaT) 103–105, Stefan (Ste) 0.005–0.1, subcooling factor (Sb) 0–1.0, initial mass fraction (or concentration) particles (ci) 0–0.1. results showed that use can effectively enhance For example, when RaT 103, Ste 0.01, ci 0.1, Sb rate inside be improved 70% compared with pure water. With increasing Sb, Nusselt nonlinearly, resulting local optimal value.

Natural Convection Heat Transfer within Octagonal Enclosure

The problem of steady, laminar and incompressible natural convection flow in an octagonalenclosure was studied. In this investigation, two horizontal walls were maintained at a constant hightemperature, two vertical walls were kept at a constant low temperature and all inclined walls wereconsidered adiabatic. The enclosure was assumed to be filled with a Bousinessq fluid. The studyincludes comp...

Conjugate Heat Transfer in Rayleigh-Bénard Convection in a Square Enclosure

Conjugate natural convection-conduction heat transfer in a square enclosure with a finite wall thickness is studied numerically in the present paper. The governing parameters considered are the Rayleigh number (5 × 10(3) ≤ Ra ≤ 10(6)), the wall-to-fluid thermal conductivity ratio (0.5 ≤ Kr ≤ 10), and the ratio of wall thickness to its height (0.2 ≤ D ≤ 0.4). The staggered grid arrangement toget...
